Ash, Misty, and Brock are on their way to Olivine City, but shake things up by searching for the legendary bird Articuno with their old friend Todd Snap. Their search leads them to the Pokemon Center at the base of Snow Top Mountain where it's a straight up 90 degree angle of nothing but ice on the mountain!
Brock: "Wouldn't this be the perfect spot to cuddle up with a hot cocoa and a warm Nurse Joy?"
Yes it would, Brock. But wouldn't you know it, apparently from the wooden sign outside, this center takes pride in being the highest Pokemon Center in the world! (No, not that kind of high you hippies!) As Todd takes a picture of the gang for a souvenir, Officer Jenny rides in on her snow mobile.
Officer Jenny: "Hey kids, let's go warm up!"
The happiest thing Brock's heard today.
The gang sit inside by an old style kerosene heater and discuss plans on how to get Todd to take a picture of Articuno. Nurse Joy walks over with Jenny overhearing their conversation and Todd asks if Joy has ever seen one. Joy affirms that Articuno have been coming to the mountain top for years as if it's the most normal thing in the world.
Nurse Joy: "So, Officer Jenny says you're looking for Articuno?"
Brock: "Yeah, but I'd settle for a steady girlfriend, Nurse Joy~!"
*Joy and Jenny proceed to ignore that statement*
While that still doesn't answer Todd's question if she's seen one with her own eyes, Joy brings everyone outside of the center to show them a statue of Articuno. The statue was brought over 1200 years ago by travelers to thank and honor it for saving them while they were stuck on the mountain. Jenny adds that people believe that there are still many Articuno that nest in all the highest and coldest places. Talk about beating around the bush, all you had to say was, "No I haven't seen a legendary Pokemon you twit!"
Nurse Joy: "I don't think you realize how difficult it is to climb an icy mountain like Snow Top... It's very dangerous 'cause it's AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE!"
Joy warns that they probably shouldn't climb the dangerous icy mountain, with Brock reassuring her that he will lead every step of the way. She asks if he's ever ice climbed before, with Brock proudly saying it's his first time. Joy doubts with a remorseful, "Then it might be your last..."
Oof. First timers need not apply.
Before they even prepare for the trip, a mini blizzard swoops in, blowing Team Rocket in front of them in a snow pile! As Joy and Jenny generously let the criminals warm up with blankets and make soup for them, Brock and Misty gather winter coats for the climb. Todd realizes that it was Articuno that saved Team Rocket, spurring him to rush out the door to find it with Ash happy to follow behind. Brock and Misty soon try to catch up.
GUYS? YOU LEFT TEAM ROCKET UNSUPERVISED WITHOUT LETTING THE OFFICER KNOW?! Incompetence is needed for any actual conflict in anipoke, remember that fanfic writers!

Just as they finish making the soup, Joy and Jenny realize everyone is gone! They run outside to find Jenny's snowmobile stolen! Joy wonders if the kids did it, but there are footprints that say otherwise; Jenny deduces it was "the other three". Knowing a storm is coming towards the mountain, they willingly make plans to find everyone before the storm hits. Even though everyone is being a dumbass about it, not heeding Joy's warning.

Luckily during the storm, Articuno appears to stop the group just before they step into a ravine! Team Rocket show up to capture Articuno by using Wobbuffet's Mirror Coat to shoot back Articuno's powerful Ice Beam! It barely dodges and the beam hits the side of the mountain. Chunks of ice fall down onto Articuno and in the chaos the edge Ash and Todd were standing on breaks off making them fall into the ravine below! Brock and Misty run back to the center for Joy and Jenny's help.
Ash and Todd have a softer landing on the snowy floor thanks to Articuno! Team Rocket land with a thud, still intent on capturing the legendary bird. Ash and Todd save Articuno in return, blasting off Team Rocket. Just as Todd snapped
With the rescue successful, Todd decides to stay behind to take photos of mountain Pokemon. Ash and friends are saddened but wish him luck regardless. All's well that ends well! ... But we don't know for sure if Joy is alright with Todd staying with her and risking his life 24/7 for who knows how long? Perhaps she doesn't mind... especially not with a huge framed photo of Articuno now hanging in her center!
Headcanon
- There has been at least one grass-type trainer that traveled to this Pokemon Center thinking it was 420 friendly.- Joy is overly prepared for keeping herself and trainers warm; she's got a fireplace, kotatsu, and an old style kerosene heater.
- Joy 120% makes sure to warn trainers how dangerous ice climbing the mountain is... y'know, what with dead bodies at the bottom of the ravines around the mountain.
- While she's proud to be the Joy of Snow Top Mountain, even having a picture of it hanging in her center... she knows how difficult it is to climb it. Whether that's just from common sense, observing others, or trying to ice climb herself it's not certain.
- The more experience the better, in Joy's opinion. If you know what I mean. Y'know, for ice climbing!
- Joy and Jenny were absolutely flirting while making soup together, hence why they were so distracted while Team Rocket made their escape.
- Jenny thought it was best for Joy to stay at the center, deciding to phone her if the rescue became dire enough to warrant gathering a larger search team.
- Joy has her own snow mobile of course! It's much easier to get to the closest town for supplies after all.
- After the rescue is done, Joy is disappointed she didn't get to see Articuno... until Todd mentions he would give a copy of his picture to her!
- Some fans like to think this Joy and Jenny adopted Todd. These bitches gay, good for them!
- Joy and Jenny certainly ask Todd if he'd take their engagement and wedding photos.
